Three rolls of toilet paper, one box of tissues, one full bottle of Dayquil, box of Nyquil, half a pack of Benydryll and two trash romances later – I think today I’m doing better.

I can smell again and therefore taste and my appetite is coming back.  Yay!

Still a little sniffly and my hearing is plugged – but we’re good.  Back in the saddle.

Although, I’m officially starting to wonder what I’m doing wrong.  174 resumes and applications since I’ve been back in Portland, which is almost two months and I’ve had 3 interviews. 3.

There’ve been a handful of online and phone conversations that were looking like they’d pan out into interviews – but ultimately, they fizzled out.  It’s got to be something I’m doing or not doing, because I don’t believe for a second that there’s not work out there. It’s everywhere. There’s got to be something else going on.  Anyway, it’s been slowing crossing my mind that perhaps, just maybe – I’m not meant to put roots in Portland yet. Damnit!

If you have any suggestions I’m all ears right now.  Though the last hint I got along these lines told me to be “less honest. Tell them what they want to hear.” That could be it too.

But I’ve gotta say.  Portland isn’t feeling as homey to me as it did before I left. Something’s up and I just can’t seem to put my finger on it yet. Hmm.

Well, Athena, I know you’re probably done with the traveling for a bit, but I thought I’d make sure you know you’ve got a free place to stay with me for as long as you want. Looks like I may be renting an apartment for a month or two and then buying a place from a guy here at work. I sure could use your eye for picking out paint colors!
Take Care, and – I know you know, but – listen to your heart. You are an amazing, talented, strong woman and sooner or later things will pan out.
I believe you have an artist’s touch, there’s Got to be a way to make a living out of it ; ) !!

Thanks Sondra. I love you. Something’s afoot, with change and I’ll keep you posted. Thank you for the offer – I might take up up on it, :)
Thanks also for the pick me up. It was very much appreciated.

Love you, Girl.
XOXO

Somewhere on Mt. Hood they do a sweat lodge too, but it might be word of mouth.
Call me if you want to talk about it a bit more –
Luv, Sondra

I wouldn’t worry just yet. Portland is -notoriously- bad and flaky and over-committed. I sent out hundreds, ..and I mean that literally, hundreds of online resumes a few in person ones before I even got an interview, I had only three or four interviews total out of those, and the first job I got was completely a place-holder job, I sort of fell into this one (that i still adore!) and I’ve gotten the feeling that is pretty normal..
