Last night was my first poker game since I started taking lessons from JawnniAce.  To my utter astonishment – I did pretty good! I knew he was a good teacher, but I had no idea I’d picked up so much.

As I was headed over, one guy said – “You going to the game?”

“Yeah,” I replied.

“They’re going to take all your money.” He laughed.

“No. No. Actually – I’m going to just go GIVE it to them. There’s a difference.”

But I sat down, full of anxiety, with my notes on my inner forearm in pen and stayed in the game for three hours.  Past three regulars who went out and re-bought back in and went out again. I knew, three and a half hours later and a couple of glasses of wine – when I would lose – but I did it anyway. All in all it was a great learning experience and I had a blast.  I hope to get better – a lot better.

On another note. I’m ridiculously emotional today.  It could be a lot of things I guess.  I suspect part of it is Ghosts of Seattle, and the fact that although my big launch is this week (today, actually) I’ve done nothing to celebrate.

I see chocolate and shoe shopping in my future.
