I had a fabulous Christmas. At first I wasn’t sure if I would be able to make it because of work and finances but it came together last minute and my family helped me out a lot.  So I realized, they actually might want me to be there.

The drive up was easy as Admiral Fubar and I rented a minivan to bring a load of stuff home from his storage unit and the van had cruise control – which explains why the trip was two hours faster than I estimated and we made it in 11 hours.

It was great to see my family.  I love D’s new house.  The girls are growing up so fast and I feel like even being gone for 10 months I’ve missed a huge chunk of their lives.

I also met my half brother for the first time in 15 years.  He’s 18 now and looks so much like my dad that it kept tripping me out.  I’m so happy he came to hang with us and I hope he will want to be a regular part of our lives.

We did our usual days of movie watching and playing cards and talking all night. Rum and cheesecake and cobbler and turkey and I came back 5 pounds heavier than when I left. It snowed 4 inches in 2 hours on Christmas Eve and we were all perfectly content not to leave the warmth of the house.

I think it’s one of the first Christmas holiday’s in recent memory where someone wasn’t having major heartbreak or neuroses and everyone got along and no one stormed off crying. No one went to the hospital and no one broke anything. Wow. It was a very Merry Christmas and for the first time… I’m actually looking forward to next year. I hope you all had a fabulous Holiday and are ready for some New Year Partying!

I’m ALIVE!!! Happy Christmas. No, Santa did not bring me Captain Jack this year, but one day, when I’m good…

I just got home and took a much needed shower. Just wanted to drop a line in there and let you know I’ll update in the morning but you don’t need to send the Posse. I made it back safe and through two snow storms and with my sanity after riding in the car for two days with my brother.

Christmas was awesome. I saw my girls, met my half brother (more later). Hugged my Dad. Ate too much. Squished my sister and had a great time with family and drove off not feeling unrepairably neurotic! Score!

This is just an update that all is well and tomorrow I’ll tell you more and add a guest post to Lunar Obverse.
