I’ve been gluten and dairy free for a month now.  Last autumn I fell off the wagon when I started to date and didn’t want to be a high-maintenance chick with food allergies or preferences.  So I jumped ship on the Gluten-free Dairy- Free lifestyle and my body went from feeling light and flexible to heavy and swollen. Ka-chunk.

Not. Sexy.

Obviously, when in a relationship or a dating scenario with someone – the better option is to feel like I have a high-maintenance diet versus the sluggish not sexy feeling that bleeds into my confidence.  It’s only been a month and I’ve lost 5 lbs. and my cognitive ability feels faster and less convoluted. My joints are more flexible and my appetite and metabolism is revved up by all the rice and veggies and fruit I eat.

Currently the problem is the need to work more protein into my diet and not let my iron dip any but all in all – I feel much better.  Ready to get back out there and move.

It also turns out that three people in my office are on the same diet so we get together and talk about how much we miss bread. Oh, God. And Cheese. God, I miss the cheese.

I do not however, miss what it does to my body.

Anywhoo, one month down.  A life time to go. Mistakes will be made and self-forgiveness must be an option.  PMS will occasionally drive me to a pint of Godiva.  Bad days will find me with a plate of pizza. But one foot in front of the other and I will get back on track. It’s worth it. My happiness and health are worth it.
