There are a lot of things weighing on my mind right now. Emotionally and mentally I am processing but doing it with a huge smile.
So on a lighter note…
I had a student in my office for an appointment the other day. We had great vibes and ended up laughing and talking like pirates for the full two hours he was here. Even as we were signing legal documents phrases like, “Stick to the code, Matey.” And “But why is the rum gone?” were popping up. I don’t know if it was something in my coffee that day or what but he was a kick and I adored chatting with him. We also talked about Legolas (who stands in my office), Halo, the Master Chief, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.
I called this morning to talk about a loan and he said first thing, “Yarg! Athena, my Matey! How’s yer day?” In a thick pirate brogue. I replied that it was going well and he said, “Let me ask ye… If there be a bar fight, Yarg? Who’da think would win- Darth Vader or Gandalf?”
The next fifteen minutes were spent on the phone in a serious and heated debate with a Pirate on one end and a Financial Aid Officer saying things like, “Gandalf the Gray or Gandalf the White?” “Yes, but how strong is the Force when compared to a guy who can summon Giant Eagles?”
I hereby put it to my friends and fellow Geeks online.
Who would win in a bar fight, Darth Vader or Gandalf?
