Saturday was a doozy of a work day. The worst I’ve had in a very long time.  The greatest part about it though… was that I was so inspired by writing ideas, in fact a whole new script that all day I was thinking.

“Sure. Go ahead and yell at me, Mr. crappy customer – because in 6 hours I’ll be home writing.”

“You look ridiculous being all whinny like that Ms. Whinny-knickers customer – but I don’t care because in 4 hours I’ll be home writing.”

3 hours and I’ll be writing.

2 hours.

And then I was home and my day completely erased from my mind as I sat down to work on a new idea. Granted, I was 58 pages into my last script – but truth be told, I still had trouble with the MacGuffin and the story wasn’t popping.  The idea that hit me on Saturday morning was born with MacGuffin in tow and characters that were so real and believable that I couldn’t write fast enough.

Sunday I wrote 20 pages of script in one sitting. It doesn’t make up the gap for switching ideas this close to deadline, but the enthusiasm is more powerful and that alone can close the chasm in time to complete for the reading on Sunday the 29th. .. I hope.

So anywhoo, I wrote non-stop Sunday until I hit the 20 page mark and stood up mid-sentence knowing I could have kept pushing forward, but also knowing a story problem (a transition issue) was not far off on the horizon.  So I called Admiral Fubar and we went to a double feature so I could get my writing mind away from the story and stop the character chatter in my brain.  The fourth time sitting through Indiana Jones with a stupid-shitty grin and bubbly excitement for the movie – I realized, I am so close to what I love.  This is what moves me. This type of storytelling is what wakes me up, makes me for get to eat or sleep and forces me to sit at my computer for hours on end. Plan A is so close!

It’s Monday, and work is just getting started, but 8 hours from now, I’ll be home writing.

And eight hours away is a whole lot better than twelve hours away.
