This morning I was awakened to construction outside my window at 8 am and within the hour a jackhammer was ripping up the front steps of my apartment. Literally, the 15 steps that lead up the side of the building to my second storey apartment were being torn off.

Mind numbing jack hammering booming through my apartment. I tore outside to yell at the guys who had not given me any notice whatsoever that my stairwell was going to be demolished at the ass-crack of morning but wouldn’t you know it – they didn’t speak any English.

So I ran back inside to call my management company, couldn’t find the number so I tried to check the internet only to discover that the internet was also down.

Then when I came out prepared to go to work there was a mad scramble to find a ladder – who knew it would take four grown men to hold a ladder and a couple more to get my ankles, hips, purse and keys?

Alls I have to say about that is, “Thank God! I remembered to wear panties under my summer dress. I’ve never had so many strangers’ eyes up my skirt!”

Then as I was late for work and frazzled I managed to lock my purse and keys in the car in the parking lot and had a pretty funny breakdown in front of a coworker.

I was laughing and crying and laughing and crying as I broke into my own car to get my purse. So I am giving myself the “Worst Morning Ever Award.” And I’m going to take myself out for lunch. Go me!

Please god, I hope they left the ladder out for me so I can climb up to my apartment when I get off work.
