Yesterday morning I woke up with just enough time to get ready for work – and as it would happen – there was no water. Turns out a water main had broken and half the block and most of my complex was without water.

There were times on the BlissQuest when I was traveling that I had to really rough it. Wet wipe baths on the road while driving or washing my hair in a river etc. It’s all part of the road trip experience.

But having been back to civilization this long a sudden interruption in my daily routine like no running water; I had to choose between using the water in the electric kettle from the night before to do a washcloth bath and brush my teeth – or make coffee with it.

It’s somewhat shameful that it was such a difficult decision.
Coffee or go to work stinking.

While I didn’t tell the folks at work this because I was embarrassed, I dug the miniature French press out of the closet and made a small half cup of coffee then used the rest to bathe and brush my teeth. (all of about two cups of water)

Yep. I still smelled bad at work. Goes to show though that perhaps my priorities are slightly askew. Although it doesn’t compare to the time on the road during the BlissQuest that I needed to brush my teeth and all I had was the melted ice-water from the cooler from the day before and it seriously tasted like ass. Perhaps I need to start a category titled ‘questionable hygiene’.
