I’ve been thinking of writing a Fools Guide to Dating for Admiral Fubar and others like him. I’m also compiling tips for the Rules of a Modern Gentleman.

This has been percolating in my mind for months now and since he’s coming back from Iraq this spring I want to have it completed and ready for him by then.

I am requesting ideas, suggestions, stories and advice.

The Fools Guide to Dating already has a list bigger than the berg that sank the Titanic of what NOT TO DO! It also contains examples of behaviors that dudes think chicks like – but chicks actually hate. It includes behaviors that chicks perpetuate that are unhealthy for relationships. This guide marks red flags for both sides of the arguments. Men and Women. Basically it’s a guide on how to be a better date and how to choose better daters.

Rules for a Modern Gentleman is an examination of the evolution of chivalry and how it translates into the lives of men who practice it and the woman they practice it on. Obviously, since the sexual revolution the terms of Chivalry have changed in the ways they are expressed and received and it seems in this new world that a man practicing the art of chivalry is taking his life and safety into his own hands by expressing the gesture of opening a door; this article is a way of recognizing the language of gestures from both sides of the fence – and updating a few customs to be more universally acceptable and understood so that the genuine meaning of expressing respect or appreciation in some form is still the fundamental basis of chivalry and actions thereof. Rules of a Modern Gentleman, is also a way for women to understand and recognize the art of chivalry so they can more gracefully circumnavigate these social expectations.

That’s the gist of it. If you all have ideas or thoughts that you’d like to see hashed out in a slightly snarky –okay mostly snarky, social commentary and guidebook, feel free to comment or reply by email.
