Happy New Year!

The holidays season is finally wrapping up, normalcy can resume.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been excited about a New Year, but 2012 promises events and culminations, adventure and success. What’s not exciting about all that?

Mostly, I just can’t wait to release my book, ‘Murder of Crows’. (hopefully to be released mid-March or April)

This year will hopefully see the launch of my personal publishing house label, along with the unveiling of my new series.

This year as I sat down to scribble some hopes and goals for 2012, I realized the usual aims and desires didn’t apply.

The yearly weight loss goal, the financial planning, travel, the discovery of a new lover, etc. etc.

Those annual plans didn’t even register on the map this year. All the mundane markers were replaced by; networking, marketing, social interactions, conferences and business development. This year will include yet more classes on craft, more research, more observance of the creative rhythms and schedules; along with clear, strong boundaries to set aside time and energy to pursue my work with the end result in mind.

In other words… this is the year my passion also becomes a productive business venture. And it’s about damn time.

The other goal, not business or writing oriented – is to ensure that those people in my life who are dear to my heart, know and understand how much I adore and cherish them. It’s really easy to get caught up in the solitary life that is writing and to forget to show the deep level of affection or regard you have for friends and family. Quality time and deeds are love languages I know how to show, and it’s my plan to work on the balance of life in personal goals and achievement as well as nurturing and feeding my relationships.

Welcome to 2012, everyone!

What new goals do you have this year? If not goals, then what sorts of things do you intend to keep track of, monitor or show an interest in?

Do you feel pretty optimistic this year?

I hope you are all well and I wish you the best of luck in your 2012 adventures!
